  • Extra credit opportunity:  Dr. Conrad will give talks at two Barnes and Noble stores on Stiquito.  These are on Wednesday, 3/2 at the Arboretum store (3327 Pineville-Matthews Road) and Thursday, 3/3 at the Huntersville Store (Birkdale, I77 exit 25).  10 points will be given.

  • The test will cover Chapters 1-4.3 (except 3.5 to 3.14), homework 1 - 5, quiz 1-2, and all notes covered in class.

  • There will be a guest speaker at the Thursday, February 17 class.  A quiz may be given.
  • The exam in open book.  However, you are not allowed any loose papers or calculators.  Any violation will result in a 0 on the test.

  • Homework 3 hint:  Each ASCII character needs 7 bits.  Each character has its own start, stop, and parity bit.

  • Welcome to ECE 2181!  The first day of class is Tuesday, January 11.
  • The book, Digital Design, Principles and Practice by John Wakerly will be used in this class.  Obtain a copy from the bookstore or purchase it online.  Make sure to get the third edition.
  • This class will be based heavily on the web pages.  For example:
  • There will be a few computer assignments to practice the concepts learned in class.  The particular tools will be announced later, but will likely not be the software included with the book.
  • Homework 1 is available, and due Tuesday, January 18, 2005.  It's simple - just based on the syllabus, class discussions, and the first book chapter.
