David Burlinson is a Ph.D. student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. His advisor is Dr. Kalpathi Subramanian, and they are both involved with teaching Data Structures, Algorithms, and Computer Graphics at UNC-Charlotte. David's primary research interests are Visualization and Perception, with particular focus on the use of algorithm and data structure visualizations as teaching and learning tools.

David is currently supported as a member of the GAANN Fellowship, a program which aims to increase the number of qualified researchers and teachers in computing.

David was born in England and lived in Toronto for a few years, but has spent more than half his life in America. He graduated from Carolina Forest High School in 2010 and obtained a BS in Computer Science from Winthrop University in 2014. David decided to pursue research after participating in an REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) program at UNC-Charlotte in the Summer of 2012, and is very excited to have returned to UNC-Charlotte to pursue his Ph.D.

When not studying or researching, David spends his time hiking, reading, and playing games.
