The balsa wood bridge competition results are in! ( see them now ) The grading scheme for the competition is as follows:

Profit > $50 million = "A" Numerical grade based on overall rank within class and comparison to previous semester. High grade in this group was a "95."

Proft > $0 million = "B" Numerical grade based on overall rank within class and comparison to previous semester. High grade in this group was a "87."

Profit < $0 million = "C" Numerical grade based on overall rank within class and comparison to previous semester. High grade in this group was a 79.

You should now be able to check the "truss" scripts for homework assignments 7 and 8. Please email me or talk to me about any problems you have checking your scripts.

The homework due dates for homework 7 and 8 have been changed. Homework 7 is now due Wednesday, Nov. 20, while homework 8 has separate due dates for part 1 (Nov. 27), and part 2 (Dec. 6). You can pick-up the latest version of the homeworks here on the web page ( click here to pick-up ).

During the help session today I discovered that there was an error in the "correct" answer for homework 5, problem 1 (Problem 4.4 in book). This error has now been fixed. Please recheck your answers to see that your answer to this problem is correct.
