University Service:

  • Director of Graduate Programs, ECE Department (2006 – present)

    • Responsible for coordinating all aspects of the PhD and MSEE programs in ECE, including admissions, TA and RA funding coordination, tuition waivers, TA assignments, conducting qualifying examinations, and other coordination tasks.

    • Engaged in graduate student recruitment activities to increase the visibility of research programs in ECE. This contributed to expanding the ECE PhD program by increasing PhD enrollment from 31 in 2006 to 67 in 2011. The total graduate student population increased from 140 to 171 during this period.

    • Established new policies for improving the quality of graduate programs, e.g. introduction of comprehensive examination for MSEE students, a new procedure qualifying examinations, annual assessment of PhD students, and others.

    • Provided leadership to support the department’s increasing focus on research by appropriate admission and financial support policies. This includes a higher selectivity for graduate admissions.
