Single-Case Research

Course Overview

RSCH 7113 (Single-Case Research) is a graduate-level course available for special education teacher candidates who have a professional teaching license or have been recommended for licensure (i.e., M.Ed. students or M.A.T. phase 2 students). This class provides an in-depth study of single-subject research methods including data collection, research designs, data displays and analyses, writing research proposals, and article critiques. The goal of this class is to provide candidates with knowledge of single-subject research that will enable them to systematically collect data within a framework and to demonstrate a functional relationship between their teaching and changes in student behavior.

This class will be delivered through Centra with Blackboard support. Weekly Centra sessions will be delivered for content learning, discussion, and presentations. Blackboard is used to display course materials, resources, and for assignment submissions. Technology requirements include (a) reliable internet access; (b) headset and speaker; and (c) skills in email communications, downloading and attaching documents, saving and renaming documents, scanning documents, basic Word and Excel processing, and PowerPoint Presentation.
