Diagnostic Assessment

Course Overview 

SPED 5173, Diagnostic Assessment, is designed to give students the knowledge and skills to be an active and vital member of the assessment team, including administration and interpretation of educational assessments and understanding and interpretation of psychological reports.  In this course, students will develop individual assessment plans employing individual curriculum-based assessment procedures, interpret results and draw instructional and management conclusions and recommendations, and conduct individual curriculum-based continuous progress monitoring.  Students will know the process and procedures for providing special education services to students with disabilities within the general curriculum utilizing assessment ethics and professional standards.  SPED 5173 is one of four introductory courses for the MAT in Special Education.  Technology requirements include Microsoft Word 2007, Excel 2007, and PowerPoint 2007.  Students will also write an assessment research synthesis paper.  Proctored tests are required.
