 We are actively seeking a Senior Technical Writer for a long term project in the Charlotte, North Carolina area. Project will involve ground - up documentation of an extensive Object Oriented software application development project for a stable and outstanding bank institution. Project is currently scheduled to run through June 2010 with possibility of extension.

Duties:
* Enhances staff accomplishments and competence by planning delivery of solutions; answering technical and procedural questions for less experienced team members; teaching improved processes; mentoring team members.
* Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering information.
* Comprehends technology by observing production and use;
* Prepares outline by organizing materials.
* Completes outline by composing language for nontechnical consumers.
* Verifies comprehension of technology and composition by testing description and instructions.
* Obtains approval of interpretation by submitting draft for approval.
* Maintains resource of technical writing by filing publications.
* Completes projects by coordinating with agencies and typing and printing services.
* Supports development of speeches, articles and news releases by preparing technical descriptions.
* Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
 

Apptis--Technical Writer

Background:  The Electronic Disability (eDib) initiative encompasses the electronic storage of all disability cases from the initial intake process through the appeals process and includes the Continuing Disability Review process.  All case processing activities are computerized rather than paper-based.  Paper documentation received from external sources, such as medical evidence, is converted to a digital format. This eliminates the generation and accumulation of paper within the disability adjudication process.

The DMA addresses the current and future document capture, indexing, routing, storage, retrieval, and management needs of the Agency. 

The Technical Writer will develop and/or modify operational support guides for SSA and Document Management Architecture onsite staff.  (The SSA Task Manager provides requirements for documents and responsible technical personnel to provide input and review of these guides).
