Dear MathCounts coaches and other middle school teachers of Hawaii,

I am thrilled to be able to offer through Iolani School a weeklong workshop for you during the week June 26-30, 2000. I have tentatively identified a few topics for discussion and put a few problems together on these topics. I would be happy to hear from you about this list of topics, because my list is quite flexible.

Let me first introduce myself. My first position after finishing at Clemson was at UH Manoa, where I taught during 1969-1971. It was a great three years, and my wife Betty, daughter Ashley and I have been back on three other occasions. Betty and Ashley both plan to help me with the workshop.

I have been involved in MATHCOUNTS since 1987 when Ashley enjoyed her participation at the national competitions. I served on the Question Writers Committee (QWC) from 1991 until 1995, and have just returned for another three year stint. I love the work and the camaraderie developed in the committee.

One program you can use is Adobe Acrobat Reader, which you can download from this
website. If you have a problem, please let me know: mailto:hbreiter@email.uncc.edu
